I HATE shaving my legs. My bathroom only has a stand-up shower. In order to shave my legs (and other unmentionable body parts), I have to kick my leg up, plant my foot on the side of the shower, and maneuver the razor as best I can without....well, it's IMPOSSIBLE not to cut myself. I don't use shaving cream. I long ago cut that out of my life when I realized that there's really no difference between a shave with cream and a shave with soap. The razors I had been using were good ones. They were the triple blade with the strip kind. But it seemed that I always ended up cutting myself regardless of how safe they were. I think it had something to do with the quickness of it all and my posture in the shower while I was shaving. Don't ask. In the past month, I finally gave up shaving my knees as they were getting sliced up so much that the wounds didn't have time to heal before I glided the blade over them again and opened them up.
Like the rest of us, I loathe spending money on razors. The ones that I had been buying were about $6.00 for a pack of five. After going approximately two weeks without shaving my knees, though, the hair on my bent knees was starting to resemble new grass! I finally conceded to buying one of those ridiculous expensive razors that are on the market now. Enter Gillette Venus Embrace.

The Embrace is a monstrosity that comes with a convenient storage hanger with a suction cup that you can place on your shower wall. There are triple blades surrounded by a hard soap-like material that contains moisturizer. You activate it by holding it under water for a second. Although it's still hard to maneuver the razor in my shower, I haven't cut myself once! I just quickly glide the blades over my legs and am finished shaving in less than five minutes (probably more like three). So in convenience, I have to give this little convenience a 5 out of 5.
After the second time I used the razor, though, my legs became itchy. At the same time, though, my arms were itchy. I have since figured out that if I don't rinse my legs good after shaving, my skin has a reaction to whatever is in the moisturizer. So beware if you decide to sample it.
It was expensive. I think I paid $7.99 which to me is ridiculous but hey, sometimes you have to sacrifice for beauty. As far as my knees go, I haven't cut them once. It's not a super duper close shave. I would have to shave every day to maintain silky smoothness...and my knees still have a bit of hair on them despite it all. Nonetheless, it's the best solution I've found thus far to smooth legs.

I've tried these before, I didn't love it I will say. They are great the first two or three times, but when the soap starts to run out, it is very easy to cut yourself. Maybe I was just trying to use it too long without replacing the little heads...
Thanks for linking to Try It Tuesday - I really appreciate it!! I normally just use the little, throwaway kind with some shower gel and don't have too much trouble. But I always do it in a tub of hot water and bubble bath, about twice a week. What can I say - I like to be lazy!! (I also keep a disposable one in my glove compartment for those times I am sitting in the sun in my car and see those hairs I missed!!)
