And Then There Was Rain
Monday, July 7, 2008 at 03:42PM
The Martin family celebrated the 4th of July this year at a Legends game. Billy Meck had forecast 50% rain so we were confident that we would be able to enjoy at least a little bit of baseball. We also decided that if it rained, we would just sit it out and enjoy the Maker's Mark club.

The tickets we got were right behind home plate. By the time we arrived, the rain had already started. We decided to eat some dinner at the Maker's Mark club and wait out the rain. The drops soon ended and we made our way down to our front row seats. An usher wiped the water off our seats and we relaxed into the evening.

Everyone stood up to sing the National Anthem then the huge flag was folded while the McDonald's dancers watched. What a gig...I imagine it's all the free hamburgers you can eat in exchange for making an a** of yourself on a AAA baseball field...good clean teenage fun!

Ma and Pa enjoyed the show. Their attitude toward any event is positive contentment.

When it started to rain, I went up to stand at the Maker's Mark club. Ever the troopers, the Martins sat in their seats. Finally, when the rain started to pelt, Ma and Pa came up to join me. Ma and I saw a gentleman wearing a plastic bag with arm holes and a hood. Ma inquired as to where he got it and he told us the gift shop. Soon, all of us had donned these attractive covers.

Rain is not the most flattering accessory.

Nonetheless, we stayed till the end and enjoyed quite a light show. The fireworks lasted for about 15 minutes.

Our beds never felt so good by the time we got home.
