Celebrate the Little Things in a Big Way

And in the wake of the sold house, I celebrated. Nine months ago when I put the house on the market, I promised myself that once the papers were signed, I would beeline straight to Lexington Professional Massage and treat myself to the Relaxation Massage.

So, on Saturday, a buddy and I met at Dudley's for a glass of wine. I asked the bartender to recommend a cabernet, which he did, and it was simply lovely. Low tannin, smooth flavor. I could have sat there and had another—but I feel quite certain I wouldn't have been able to drive afterward. We sat and talked about the most irrelevant subjects...that movie The Strangers, the origins of tequila (my friend had done a tequila tasting at a resort in Mexico), and her husband's haircut, which is apparently very becoming! We then headed over to the massage center and were led to our respective rooms to enjoy one hour of total relaxation. I fell asleep four times.

After the massage was over, the massage therapist told me to take my time in getting off the massage table. I didn't take much time, though, because I was afraid I would fall back to sleep and have to be woken up by the next customer. I got up and looked in the mirror...and saw Beetlejuice! My hair was a matted mess of oil. So I slicked it down and went with the look. Of course I had a hat in the car. What girl wouldn't?

Afterwards, I headed out to Hamburg and bought 2 books, 2 magazines (for Hubby), one oatmeal cookie, one latte, one slice of cheesecake (again, for Hubby), Milk and Honey bubble bath, Milk and Honey pillow spray, and two aromatherapy candles. Hey, I was on a roll. I took them all home, lit the candles, gave hubby his present, and laid down on my bed to read.

Why I don't take the time to celebrate more often is beyond me...and do I really need a reason?
